Escursione sul sentiero Juutua
By request
Enjoy hiking along the Juutua Trail (6.3 km): Listen to the whitewater rapids of Juutua River, savor snacks at the riverside shelter, and cross over Jäniskoski’s roaring waters via a suspension bridge. Juutua River is one of Europe’s best trout rivers.
Jäniskoski’s magnificent rapids amaze visitors year-round. The water flows with such force that the rapids never freeze, even in the coldest winter frost. A suspension bridge crosses over Jäniskoski, and after crossing the river, you can admire the torrent from a riverside shelter. The shelter, located halfway along the trail, is an ideal spot for a break.
The Juutua Trail is perfect for families and suits day hikers of all kinds. The southern part of the trail is illuminated and kept open during the winter, with wide gravel paths making it accessible for strollers and wheelchairs. In contrast, the northern part is lit only by natural light and features narrow paths through dense forests.
Juutua’s shores have always been a lifeline for people, providing rich fish catches and tales told among the riverside stones. The trail includes nature boards designed to inspire a deeper appreciation of the surroundings. The illustrations are crafted by Inari-based artist Merja Aletta Ranttila.
